Spelling Tests
The Spelling Test for Unit 1 Week 1 will be on Tuesday, August30. With Lead 21, the test will always be on the 5th day of the week's lesson. The 5th day of a lesson will not always fall on a Friday or the last day of a school week. The students have been aware of this since we took the pretest last Wednesday and were to take their corrected tests home to practice.
I have also purchased a premium membership in Spelling City Students can go online to practice their words. For this week the only assignment I have made is to take the test and they will do that at school.
To access and practice:

Click on the student bubble at the top right hand

WELCOME TO MRS. HAGEMAN'S CLASS
Dear students,
Welcome to an great year. Bring your curiosity and excitement for learning and we'll have more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
We have a new reading series this year which I think you'll really like. Our math will still be Everyday Math but has been updated to include Common Core standards. Social Studies and Science are included in the reading, but we'll also do some fun projects in both subjects. Technology will be used to help us gain information, reflect on what we have learned, and to share with others. We will continue with the Steps to Respect program to help us prevent bullying.
Other highlights of the year are the DARE Program and our two field trips; the "Walk in the Woods" at Rigg's Arboretum and "Farm Safety Day" at the Activity Center.
This is my 7th year to teach in 5th grade. Before that I worked as a tutor teacher for several years. Other jobs I have had are as a clerk at Zenda Grain and Supply, the City Clerk for Zenda, a pre-school teacher at Zenda, a para-professional, a full-time classroom aide, and an office aide. Of all the jobs I have had, teaching is my favorite.
Other things I like to do are reading, gardening, and traveling. My travels are usually to New York to see my daughter, Jessica, who lives in Guilderland, NY.
Besides Jessica, I have another daughter, Amy, a son, Dallas, a grand-daughter, Anne, and my husband, Kenny. Kenny and I live in Zenda, KS. I have 7 brothers and sisters and Kenny has 16 brothers and sisters, so we have many, many nieces and nephews. My parents have both died but we still have my husbands mother, Eleanor. Family is very important to me and I love spending time with them.
My students are kind of like a second family to me. I love getting to know them and helping them learn. I look forward to an exciting year getting to know each and every one of you.
See you soon,
Mrs. Linda Hageman

I have added a link to Everyday Math to the Class Links. Parents and students may view free family resources without logging in. Demonstrations of math algorithms learned are given.
Each student also has their own User ID and password to log in to access the Student Reference Book and to practice games online.
